South-West Insurance Agency was founded in 1908
under the name of Beverly Witt, and Company. The purpose of the firm was
to conduct retail insurance business and handle the purchasing, selling,
leasing, and transfer of real and personal property. On February 1, 1914, our
firm was incorporated in the state of Virginia, taking the name of South-West
Insurance Agency, Inc. After incorporation, our activities were confined
to the general insurance agency business.
Andy L. Witt was appointed manager, attaining the
Presidency of the corporation in 1933. A. L. Witt's son, Floyd W. Witt, Sr.
joined the firm in 1941, becoming President in 1966. In 1974,
Floyd W.
Witt, Jr. joined the corporation and became President in 1977. On January
1, 1995 the board of directors appointed Floyd W. Witt, Jr.,
Chief
Executive Officer and Michael L. Allen, President.
Since our inception in 1908, South-West Insurance
has added two new locations and another division,
Employee Benefits Division, to
better serve the region and our clients' total insurance needs.
Since our beginning in 1908, the agency's mission
has always been to provide unequal led service
for our clients and support
our community through our volunteer efforts and financial donations. This
continues to be our most important objective.
